About Dhiraj Hospital

Dhiraj Hospital, a tertiary care hospital attached to Smt. B K Shah Medical Institute and Research Center, located within the same campus of institute, in rural area of Vadodara. Dhiraj Hospital was established in 2002.

This is a state of art Multispecialty hospital having more than 1500 beds with many super specialty facilities available. It is highly subsidized services ranging from basic life support to Super specialty care to all sections of the society of Gujarat and neighboring states. Besides these services, their outreaches Programmes hold medical camps in the rural areas which serve the poor and weaker sections of the society.

Hospital has student friendly atmosphere and a rich culture and a perfect ambience for research and academics. Dhiraj Hospital provides good opportunity for learning medicine and to emerge from here as competent and compassionate doctors fully prepared to serve the society and Nation.

Dhiraj Hospital Facilities

     1. Indoors :

• General wards, Private wards and intensive care units.
• More than 1500 bedded hospital which includes general wards and Intensive Care Units (ICU).
• State-of-art diagnostic facilities like CT scan, MRI Scan, Ultrasound, and Digital X-rays.
• Clean Labour Room (CLR) & Septic Labor Room (SLR).
• All in-patients receive care by team of Resident Doctors and Nurses, available round the clock, under the supervision and guidance of Faculty Members.
• Waste disposal is done as per the established rules (Biomedical waste management and handling rules) and utmost care is taken to keep the premises neat and clean.
• Every inpatient is provided with two attendant passes.
• Visitor’s timings in General Wards are from 12.00 PM to 2.00 PM and 6PM to 8PM.
• For very poor patients, on recommendation of treating Doctor, the hospital charges may be waived off by Medical Superintendent Office. Financial assistance is also available through Poor patient assistance cell which is funded through the trust’s funds.
• Well-established Radiotherapy Department with therapeutic services to both outpatients and indoor cancer patients.
• Food is served three times a day. Also, Tea is provided in the morning and evening.

2.Operation Theatres:

• The institute has fully equipped modern 27 Operation Theatres, where major and minor surgeries are performed using the latest equipments and technology.
• For routine surgeries, the respective departments maintain waiting list. Patients are called and operated upon as per the waiting list. But, in case of emergencies/urgencies, the out of turn surgeries are also performed, at the discretion at the treating doctors.
• Pre-Anesthetic check (PAC) up is done in PAC Room in OT Complex before getting admitted for planned surgeries.
• Post Anesthesia Care Unit is also part of standard package.
• The OT complex has 20 Beds for the Recovery of the Patients.

3. Intensive Care Units (ICU):

• The hospital has fully equipped Main ICU at 2nd floor, to provide ICU care.
• There are specialty ICUs/Centers: – 20 Beds ICU and 20 Beds ICCU, 34 Bed Neonatal ICU, 20 Beds Pediatric ICU, 20 Beds SICU, 20 Bed Obs. HDU/ICU, 04 Beds Respiratory ICU.

4. Blood Bank :

• A licensed Blood Bank is available in the hospital.
• It caters to the requirements of patients.
• It provides all the kind of Blood components.

Services Offered By Blood Bank

Department of Pathology at Dhiraj Hospital and Smt. B.K. Shah Medical Institute and Research centre of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth offers services in sphere of patient care and, training, education and research. Blood Bank is part of department of pathology.

Blood bank is functioning since June 2004. Blood Bank has facilities for whole blood and blood component preparation. It confirms the rules and regulation lay down by food and drug control authority, Gujarat state regarding space, equipments, the battery of tests, storage, supply and bleeding procedure. Blood bank has a license for voluntary blood donation camp. Voluntary blood donation is supported by students of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, NGOs and various organization.

It is headed by head of pathology department and supervised by BBO, Professor, Assistant Professor. It is assisted by resident doctors, technicians and supporting staff. Blood bank works round the clock and meet the required blood demand of planned as well as emergency patients. Average supply of blood unit per year is 2000 units.

Central Clinical Laboratory

The Central Clinical Laboratory offers services in investigation related to Biochemistry, Pathology and Microbiology. It caters to the needs of OPD and indoor patients. Laboratory functions for 24 hours a day and 365 days of a year. Routine investigations are accepted till 5:00p.m. after which only emergency investigations are accepted. Central Lab has been accredited with NABM Medical Entry Level Certificate.

• O2 cylinder should be fitted inside the ambulance.
• IV Fluids, Emergency drug tray, Resuscitation equipment, Emergency light
• Stretcher -01(minimum) with 2 Bed sheets + 2 Pillows to be kept inside ambulance.
• Four stretchers (Swaraj Mazda) with 4 Bed sheets and 4 Pillows to be kept inside ambulance.
• Ambulance siren & Red light should be functioning.
• Ward boys to be trained in loading/unloading patients.
• Ambulance staff training for handling of acute patients and CPR.
• Ambulance staff trained in preventing injury aggravation and maintenance of asepsis.
